Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her studies in marine biology at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard began her career in the industry of commercial seafood in 1999. That year she worked as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut boat, which was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and have joined forces to stake their claim to their business. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard came back from her home in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, to Philadelphia. In 2007, Bossard mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1. She returned to Philadelphia from her native Canada, opened Otolith as a direct-market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard along with her son Andre and daughter Isabella are scheduled to return back to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the wild salmon harvest. Hooks and lines are used to catch their fish after which they join Aritan for local processors for a period of two months. They then continue to grow their direct seafood sales via Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard was hired as an anchor on News 12 / MMJ News 12 Anchor/MMJ and News 12 Brooklyn in November 2015. She is passionate about highlighting what's good in her boroughs and telling stories that have impact.
